YYZ Connect

In order to find out the pulse of this city, I want to know what drives people; how Torontonians build community, what inspires, frustrates them.

What is it about this city that draws people in. What is it that sets this city apart.

I met with an old friend who shared with me his recent experience of attending mosque while a group of protests stood outside. And the subsequent follow-up messages of love and inclusion.

“Toronto has a lot to be proud of when it comes to its diversity. That being said, I don’t think we can be complacent and assume things won’t change. The way global trends are going, the tide can always turn against the ethos of openness many people in the city value deeply. We can maintain this pride in who we think we are as a city—but we have to be willing to fight for it.”
