Living With Alzheimers

Barb is retreating, ever so swiftly. But two things illuminate her – music and her granddaughter. Her granddaughter – too young to understand – is gentle with her. She reads to her, brushes her hair and she talks to her. They dance. And when they do, Barb is there – her twinkle, her smile, her movement to the music, her love of dancing. She’s still there, just quiet now.

More and more, I’m drawn to the photos that connect generations. Stories that acknowledge struggles with health, but transcend in order to celebrate, to laugh, dance and hold hands, right now … right this very moment.
